The thing about trying to stash several pounds of marijuana in a storage unit: People will smell it. Just ask Fair Lawn police.

Fair Lawn police called to Life Storage on Wagaraw Road could smell the pot.

Investigators called to Life Storage on Wagaraw Road could smell it, too, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

With help from a Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K-9 team, narcotics Detectives Brian Rypkema, Anthony Lugo and Mark Wyka figured out which unit to obtain a search warrant for.

Inside they found four pounds of pot, along with packaging materials, that they said a Paterson dealer stashed there, Metzler said.

The renter, 34-year-old Milton Hall, was released after police arrested him at his home on charges of having and selling marijuana, as well as having drug paraphernalia.
